SiFu Steven C. Kleppe began his martial arts journey at the age of 20. First training and instructing in Chinese Kenpo Karate and Yang style Tai Chi, SiFu Kleppe enriched his martial experience through numerous teachers and masters; ultimately, his path led him to Grandmaster Kwong Wing Lam, with whom he has been studying since the early 1980s. In 2008, SiFu Kleppe was honored to become one of SiGung Lam's "in-door" disciples.  As such, he accepts the responsibility of passing forward vital material that includes Canton Hung Gar, Ha Say Fu Hung Gar, Yang style Tai Chi Chuan, Wudang sword, Sun style Tai Chi Chuan, BaGua Zhang, Xing Yi, Northern ShaoLin, and Iron Body Qigong training.

Describing himself as "blessed," SiFu Kleppe has traveled extensively throughout the United States and China to work with masters in various systems. Multiple pilgrimages to China's ShaoLin, WuDang, Emei and Small Goose Pagoda Temples, as well as visits to martial training centers in Beijing, Tianjin, Shanghai, and Xian have allowed SiFu Kleppe to literally bring the world of traditional Chinese arts to students in Southeastern Wisconsin.

ShaoLin Center was founded in 1982 as a full-time community resource for  traditional Chinese martial arts and culture, Taoist philosophy, and healing practices. The school was a natural extension for SiFu Kleppe, as he dedicated 25 years of his professional life to education – as both teacher and administrator. In addition to instructing six days a week at ShaoLin Center, SiFu Kleppe also offers seminars and workshops, private lessons, and energy acupressure healing to school members, and the community at-large.
